Neighbourhood Watch Review

The City of Melville is a local government authority in the Southern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia.

In 2023 the City of Melville engaged Janali & Co. to evaluate the Melville Neighbourhood Watch Program, a community-led safety program that the City has supported for many years.

To support the City with this project Janali & Co. :

  • Designed an evaluation plan that identified evaluation questions and methods for data collection

  • Undertook a desktop review of program administrative and planning data

  • Facilitated engagement with program stakeholders including one-to-one interviews, focus groups, and a stakeholder survey

  • Interviewed other local governments to benchmark the City’s approach against the broader sector

  • Developed a report that summarised evaluation findings and provided recommendations for the City to guide its future support for the NHW program.
