With a love of numbers that stretches back to her school days, where mathematics was a favourite subject, Amena brings to Janali & Co. specialised administration, accounting and bookkeeping skills, combined with a deep appreciation of the power of community.

Amena grew up in Afghanistan and, following tertiary studies in economics, secured positions in customer service and business development at Afghanistan’s largest bank, Azizi Bank Mazar Sharif. When the Taliban took over, Amena fled to Australia, settling in Perth with members of her extended family in 2021. Shortly after arriving in Perth, Amena undertook further studies, completing a Certificate III and IV in English as an Additional Language, and a Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping at North Metropolitan TAFE.

Amena further developed her customer service, business development, administration, and finance skills through her volunteer role with the Kaleidoscope Project, an initiative at the City of Stirling. It was here Amena also discovered a passion for working in the services field, and she soon secured a role with NDIS provider Manage It as a plan manager. Amena loves this role as it combines her skills in bookkeeping, administration, and customer service with her passion for having an impact in the community and making a difference.

At Janali & Co. Amena is responsible for a range of office management tasks, including quarterly reporting, reconciliation, invoicing, and payroll. Her studies at TAFE were essential in preparing her for this role, and her position at Manage It, and Amena now has a strong understanding of Australian tax reporting requirements and obligations.

Amena loves Perth and appreciates the warm welcome she received on arrival and the opportunities that continue to surface for her as she settles into Australian life. She sees her future as one that is full of opportunity, surrounded by good, welcoming people who genuinely want to see her succeed.
