Sarah Janali is a community development practitioner and consultant located in Perth, Western Australia, with over two decades of experience helping government and non-government organisations engage with their communities to solve complex problems and harness opportunities.  

Sarah has a passion for place-based community development work. Over her fifteen years working in the local government sector, Sarah was involved in the design and delivery of many impactful place-based social impact initiatives. Having worked in grass roots community development roles to senior management positions Sarah has a deep understanding of the local government context. Additionally, living and working in intercultural settings, gives Sarah significant expertise in working successfully with different cultures and helping organisations leverage cultural diversity for better outcomes. Sarah’s theoretical understanding of the community development and impact context is built on her first-class Honours qualifications in Political Science and Asian Studies, a Masters in International and Community Development and a Diploma in Project Management. 

Through expert coaching, training, facilitation and strategic support, Sarah helps organisations work better with stakeholders and create community-led solutions to solve complex challenges. In 2022, she launched Sarah Janali Consulting with the goal of bringing her expertise and experience directly to clients looking to make social impact. Demand for the service led Sarah to expand the business in late 2023, bringing together industry experts and engaging partners as needed to bring even more benefit to clients. Sarah’s oversight of all projects and hand selection of consultants and partners means clients gain the benefit of Sarah’s skills, enhanced by individuals with specialised focus. 

Outside of her work, Sarah enjoys various opportunities to engage with cultures and communities, including through volunteering and participating in a choir group who perform publicly around Perth. Grounded by her family, Sarah balances her thriving business with quality time with her people.
