Unlocking potential to build better futures

Communities are made up of people and people are complex, right?

The complexity of human experience, further complicated by the different ways of knowing, doing, and being that exist within multicultural societies means communities can be downright messy, chaotic spaces to work in.

Throughout my career, I have thrived on working within multilayered, complex spaces!  As a deep thinker and creative individual, I love the potential that exists within these messy spaces for generative work, learning, and for transformation. My passion is helping communities unlock their potential and optimising the benefits of diversity, in the process making meaningful connections.

As a community development practitioner who has spent the last two decades enabling, mobilising, and facilitating social change in communities, I recognise that with diversity comes complexity that can be challenging for institutions, organisations and individuals to navigate.

What I’ve learned and embraced on my journey is that whilst our life experiences may be worlds apart, our basic human desires for belonging, connection and to be listened to are the same.

If we can tap into this space of shared humanity, where our differences converge, the journey of building a strong future together begins.

I’ve had the privilege of living and working for the last forty years on Whadjuk country, Western Australia. As a cultural enthusiast, I feel immensely proud to come from a land that’s both home to the oldest living culture and the most ethnically diverse society on the planet.

Marrying a man who arrived here as a refugee, raising children in an intercultural family and the negotiating of cultural differences in everyday life that this entails, has deepened my appreciation for the diversity of human experiences that characterises multicultural Australia.

I bring all of this specialised knowledge and rich experiences to every project and make sure it’s delivered in a way that’s most beneficial to the communities, and in a collaborative manner. Together, we can make a real difference in communities. If you are working in the community context, I would love to be your guide as you and your team navigate the beautiful, powerful, complicated, and messy spaces of the community. Because that’s where you’ll be able to make a real and lasting difference!
